The ClearScholar Commitment to the Student Voice Comes Full-Circle
ClearScholar operates by four core values displayed proudly on the main wall of our office. The first core value, Students, highlights how ClearScholar considers students to be of utmost priority and our commitment to listen intently to their feedback, desire, and logic in the creation and implementation of our product.
In May of this year, my co-worker, Ryan Krueger and I both graduated from Butler University. As the two newest hires at ClearScholar, our addition to the team, via the Tech Fellowship and the Orr Fellowship, further solidifies ClearScholar’s commitment to students.
Ryan and I had the opportunity to be a part of the first focus groups of Butler students for the Butler version of the ClearScholar app, known as The Butler App. Over the course of this past year, we witnessed ClearScholar’s ongoing presence on campus, continuous student outreach, and enthusiastic reception to feedback, both positive and negative, to continuously improve the product for students.
Oftentimes, companies have values that they distribute and post but do not put into practice or prioritize against business demands. However, I have seen first hand ClearScholar’s commitment to and the value placed on Student Feedback. Not only did the ClearScholar team maintain a visible presence on campus, but they were also always accessible for any question or suggestion that would come through their inboxes. In the 2016-2017 academic year, I served Butler University as the Student Government Association president. Through this lens, I listened to and participated in numerous student-driven meetings discussing the Butler App. It was an incredibly empowering feeling to know that the changes students wanted to see or the functionality we valued in a mobile application would be received and implemented by ClearScholar.
Upon graduating, I was thrilled to know that I would be going on to work for a company that truly upholds its core values and seeks to support the Millennial Generation. Through transitioning from a user of the ClearScholar app to a ClearScholar employee, I know that my perspective will be heard and respected within the organization.
The commitment to the student voice continues to be a driving force fueling the development and design of our student safety and engagement platform. My journey with ClearScholar has brought me full-circle, and I hope as I start this next journey I will be a part of the greater impact ClearScholar will have in showing students on our partner campuses that their voices count and are valued.
